Information
Noroxymorphone is a major metabolite of oxymorphone in urine. Oxymorphone, sold under trade names such as Opana, Numorphan, and Numorphone, is an opiate analgesic indicated for the relief of moderate to severe pain. Direct or indirect metabolite of three commonly prescribed opioids, oxymorphone, oxycodone, and naloxone. Presence must be evaluated alongside the presence of its precursors and/or buprenorphine (commonly prescribed with naloxone). If detected alone, noroxymorphone cannot be used to identify which precursor drug was used. *Noroxymorphone can also be a minor metabolite of naltrexone, but the mechanism is not well-studied and should be considered on a case-by-case basis.
