Methoxymandelic acid is used as an internal standard for monitoring Vanilmandelic/Vanillylmandelic acid levels for endocrine, clinical, and diagnostic LC/MS testing. Vanilmandelic acid, or VMA, is a urinary metabolite of epinephrine and norepinephrine, and testing is often used to detect catecholamine-secreting tumors.
