Information

Hydrocodone, also known as dihydrocodeinone, is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from either codeine or thebaine, two naturally occurring opiates. It is most commonly used in combination with acetaminophen for management of moderate to severe pain. Hydrocodone has also been used historically as an antitussive agent, though current cough and cold medicines have replaced it with dextromethorphan.
