Butalbital is a barbiturate often combined with other medications such as acetaminophen or aspirin for the treatment of pain or codeine for headaches. Trade names of several butalbital combinations include Axocet, Bucet, and Bupap with acetaminophen and Axotal with aspirin. Butalbital presence indicates use or exposure. Not a recognized metabolite of any other drug.
